A short collection, chosen slowly.

Concept Designers is an imported designer furniture showroom in Manjalpur, Vadodara. We sell stools, chairs, sofas, dining tables, centre tables and accent pieces for homes that are being furnished properly, once.

How it started

We got tired of the same four sofas.

Furnishing a new home in this city used to mean choosing between the same handful of pieces, in the same handful of finishes, from whichever showroom happened to be nearest. We started Concept Designers because we wanted to buy something else, and there was nowhere to buy it.

So we went looking. Workshops in Italy and Denmark, upholsterers in England and Portugal, weavers in the Philippines, stone carvers in Indonesia. We import directly, in small quantities, and we bring each piece into the showroom before we ever put it on this site.

What we do

Imported pieces, local judgement.

Importing is the easy half. The harder half is knowing which of these pieces will actually work in a Vadodara apartment — with our light, our humidity, our room sizes and the way families here actually use a living room. That judgement is what you are really buying from us.

The showroom is set out as four part-finished rooms rather than rows of stock, so you can see how a stool sits against a counter and how a centre table reads against a sofa before you commit to either.

How we work.

Four things we hold to, which between them explain most of what is and is not in this showroom.

We buy small

A maker in Tuscany might produce forty of a chair in a year. We will take four. That limits what we can show you, and it is the whole point: the pieces in this showroom are not sitting in a warehouse by the hundred.

We only stock what we would live with

Every piece on this site has been sat in, leaned on and looked at under our own showroom light before we committed to it. If it did not hold up, it is not here.

We plan the room, not the order

Bring your floor plan, your tile sample, a photograph of the light at four in the afternoon. We will work out what the room needs and tell you plainly which of our pieces do not belong in it.

We stay involved after delivery

Leather needs feeding. Solid wood moves in the first monsoon. We will tell you how to look after what you have bought, and we will answer the phone a year later.
